80 YEARS OF JEEP

In November 1940, the Army was delivered the first Willys "Squat Six," the first Jeep. To commemorate 80 years of supplying our military and citizens with tough, long-lasting vehicles, Jeep is adding special treats to all their models. All of them will look different from their 2020 and 2022 siblings with unique 80th Anniversary styling both inside and out. At Mathews Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM located on Harcourt Road in Mount Vernon, OH, we're excited about the unique editions for our models. Let's take a look at some of the differences for this special year.

DESIGN

For the 80th anniversary, Jeep has added unique styling to every model. The most prominent are 18" to 20" Satin Gloss Granite Crystal aluminum wheels with Bridgestone Dueler all-terrain tires that match the exterior accents, including the mirror caps, headlamp rings, and grille and fog lamp bezels. Each model also comes with 80th Anniversary Edition commemorative badging.

PERFORMANCE

Jeep has stayed consistent with its previous year's offering. Here are the engine options for each Jeep's base model:

  • Cherokee: 3.2-liter V-6, 271 horsepower
  • Compass: 2.4-liter four-cylinder, 180 horsepower
  • Gladiator: 3.6-liter V-6, 285 horsepower
  • Grand Cherokee: 3.6-liter V-6, 295 horsepower
  • Renegade: 1.3-liter four-cylinder, 177 horsepower
  • Wrangler: 3.6-liter V-6, 285 horsepower
  • INTERIOR

Like the exterior, Jeep has given its 80th Anniversary Editions a major restyling inside. Every model, from the Renegade to the Grand Cherokee, gets black Berber floor mats with an 80th Anniversary logo, as well as anodized gunmetal (in some models, combined with piano black) interior accents. Other premium details include commemorative logos stitched into the front seats and sleek bezel finishes. Many models come with premium leather upholstery with Light Tungsten stitching. Stargazers will enjoy the dual-pane panoramic sunroof. As far as comfort is concerned, all models come with a power driver's seat (in some cases, both front seats) with lumbar adjustment, ideal for weekend cruises through Westerville, OH.

    TECHNOLOGY

The 80th Anniversary Jeep models aren't just getting extra comfy seating, they're getting an exciting infotainment package to make those long commutes from Delaware, OH to Newark, OH. Jeeps are now getting the fourth generation Uconnect® system with 8.4-inch touchscreen. It includes Apple CarPlay® support, Android Auto™ integration, the available SiriusXM® All Access Package, Navigation, Bluetooth® connectivity and integrated Voice Command. Passengers can stream, share and browse on the go with an available 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot. In addition to infotainment, the Uconnect system has a number of other cool features you'll appreciate, like being able to remotely start the engine from your smartphone or smartwatch. If you left your climate controls on, it'll even warm up or cool down your vehicle before you get in. And there's a Vehicle Finder function that finds your car or SUV and sends directions to your smartphone. You can also look up destinations on your smartphone and send them to the Uconnect's navigation system.

    SAFETY

For 2021, the Jeep Grand Cherokee 80th Anniversary Edition is unique in that it now comes standard with the ProTech II Package (previously only optional on certain trim levels). In addition to the Protech I's blind spot monitoring with rear cross detection and ParkSense rear park assist and back-up camera, the Protech II Package includes forward collision warning, LaneSense lane departure warning, auto high beam headlamps, and advanced brake assist. The Protech III package, which includes adaptive cruise control and parking assist features, is still optional.

    WAVE CUSTOMER CARE PROGRAM

In addition, for 2021 Jeep is extending its Wave Customer Care program to all vehicles, whether leased or purchased. This service includes three years of free maintenance, including oil changes and tire rotations, as well as 24/7 support via phone or online chat. Other features include first-day rental and trip-interruption coverage, plus VIP access to unspecified but totally exclusive Jeep events.

We at Mathews Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, proudly serving the Columbus area, hope you're as excited as we are about these special 8th anniversary editions. Come on into our dealership in Mount Vernon, where you'll find anything from a Wrangler for tackling the trails to a Grand Cherokee for commuting in style.
